What is a microchip?
A microchip is a electronic chip that contains owner information for a pet.The chip is the size of a grain of rice and is implanted between the shoulder blades.
What information is on a microchip?
A microchip holds the owner contact information such as their name, phone number and address. It also contains information about the pet, including the name, breed and age.
How is a microchip implanted?
A microchip is implanted between the shoulder blades using a needle. The process is as simple as getting a shot, the needle is just slightly larger. However, no surgery or anesthesia is required!
What kind of maintenance is required with a microchip?
Maintaining a microchip is easy! When the microchip is first implanted, make sure that it is registered. Once it is registered, the only thing you need to remember is to update the information if you were to move or change your phone number. Also, it is recommended to have your vet scan to ensure the microchip is still functioning at your pets yearly checkup.
Is a microchip a GPS tracker?
No! Your pets microchip can't be used to track your pet. It is only used to store information that will be used if the pet is scanned.

If your pet is lost and the finder brings them into a veterinarian office or animal shelter, they will be able to scan your pet. From there they will call the chip company and then be able to contact you!
