The Humane Society of the United States (HSUS) was founded in 1954 and is one of the largest organizations in the world, with over 10 million members. Many argue that the HSUS is the world’s most influential animal-welfare organization. They are advocates for finding homes for all cats, but also understand that at this time, the number of cats outweigh the number of homes. Therefore, until the overpopulation of cats can be controlled, the HSUS supports TNR and other sterilization programs.
